Gospel Repentance

Legalistic remorse says, “I broke God’s rules,” while real repentance says, “I broke God’s heart.” Legalistic repentance takes sin to Mt. Sinai, gospel repentance to Mt. Calvary. Legalistic repentance is convicted by punishment, gospel repentance becomes convicted by mercy.Timothy Keller

  1. Maybe this is the heart of the whole Lordship Salvation Free Grace debate

  2. Hey Gordy,

I was wondering if you have ever read the book Scandalous Freedom by Steve Brown. It is an excellent book, that I think you would really enjoy. It focuses on legalism and other topics you often post.

  3. Thanks for the recommendation Shawn. The book looks interesting and I’ve added it to my list of books to buy.

Got something to say?
