Are you guilty and responsible for Adam’s sin?

Does God count you guilty and responsible for Adam’s sin? Does God ever see one person as guilty because of another’s sin? If you think not, then how do you explain God punishing the Lord Jesus Christ for all of our sins? God does count you guilty and responsible for Adam’s sin:

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:18-19

Because of Adam’s offence, we all are condemned. Because of Adam’s disobedience, we all are sinners.

So what’s the point? We all are guilty and condemned because of our own actions anyway, so what does it matter if God sees us guilty for Adam’s sin too. The point is if God does not see one person guilty for the sins of another, he will not see the Lord Jesus Christ guilty for our sins. And more importantly, he will not see us righteous because of one man’s obedience.

Because God counts us guilty because of the first Adam, he can count us righteous because of the last Adam.
