What motivates you? Do you work in a ministry or do a job in the church in order to get attention for yourself or to please someone or to please God?
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. Ephesians 6:5-8
Those who are servants to men are not to serve in order to please men; they should do it as servants of Christ in order to please God. Whatever it is that you do, as long as you please God, it matters not what Mrs. Wigglejaws thinks or what Suzy Pharisee thinks. Don’t worry if everything you do is judged by someone else. Worrying about pleasing God is enough to worry about.
And for Suzy Pharisee who thinks it is her job to judge how others behave:
Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. Romans 14:4
When you judge another in the church, you are putting yourself in God’s place. You don’t want to do that, do you?
