If these excuses won’t work in front of a human judge, why do you think they will work in front of God, the holy and just judge? Justice demands punishment. The only “excuse” that works with God is if someone else pays the fine for you. If someone else pays your fine, then justice will be satisfied. Jesus paid that fine when he was on the cross.
