Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
Back when I was a child, I would play in the creek and sometimes build a dam out of mud. If the mud didn’t hold, it would first start out as a small leak and then get a little bigger. It wouldn’t take long before water was flowing unimpeded and there was no trace of the original dam.
Just as when you let out a little water, if you meddle with even a little contention, it won’t be long before the ravaging streams of strife wreak havoc and pain.
