The truth hurts – hurt by a true friend

Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Some times, a friend or a relative will say or do something that hurts us. A lot of times though, that hurt motivates us to make a change in our life. A lot of times, we may be living in such a way or saying certain things or believing certain things that do not benefit us and actually cause ourselves harm without us even knowing it. A true friend will let us know when we are hurting ourselves – even though we are hurt – are wounded – when they let us know. On the other hand, an enemy is someone who actually encourages you to continue your harmful ways. An enemy will kiss you and tell you are OK even when you are living in sin.

I would rather have one friend who will tell me the truth – even if the truth hurts – than a dozen friends who will flatter me and let me continue down the wrong path.
