50 people created in the image of God

Sunday, June 12th, 2016 at 8:36 pm

Fifty people created in the image of God are dead as the result of one man bent on inciting terror. Fifty families are stricken with grief today as they mourn the loss of son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, mother, and father. Friends are grieving.

The problem is not the sexual orientation of these fifty (I am not condoning their sin just as I expect others would not condone my sin).

The problem is not the weapons used in the massacre. More people were killed with box cutters on September 11.

The problem is not Islam even though its adherents have been terrorizing the United States since the founding of the country (Thomas Jefferson had a Koran in his library not because he respected the religion, but because he wanted to learn more about the Koran’s followers who were attacking U.S. ships at sea).

The problem is not the political party who is in power at any given time. Terrorists have attacked when Democrats had power and when Republicans had power.

The problem is much closer to home. In fact, the problem is even closer than that.

The problem is my heart and your heart. All of creation has been affected by the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Our hearts are deceitful, selfish, prone to sin. Every thought, desire, decision, and action is tainted because of sin.

We have bought into the lie that we are basically good people. Outwardly, we might appear good, and we might even do a lot of good things. But in the end, we still have a heart problem. Even all the people who faithfully go to churches every Sunday morning have this heart problem. It is a heart problem that only God can change. God can and is willing to take a stony heart and replace it with a heart of flesh.

If you don’t think you have a heart problem, I challenge you to take the Good Person Test: http://www.voicecrying.com/good/001.shtml

Many people implore God to save America. God’s way of saving is not man’s way. He wants your heart.
