The Constitution does what?

Tuesday, October 12th, 2004 at 8:50 pm

The Constitution bars any state “establishment” of religion. That means the government cannot promote religion in general, or favor one faith over another.

It does not say that! It only restricts Congress (the Senate and House of Representatives) from creating laws that establish religion – the Constitution is silent about posting or displaying the Ten Commandments on government properties. Not only is the Ten Commandments a religious document, but it also is a historical document. The founders of this country based many laws and the structure of our government on the Bible including the Ten Commandments.

It is time people – especially judges and the media – start reading the U.S. Constitution to find out what it really says.
