God’s ways are far above the ways of even the wisest

Saturday, July 31st, 2004 at 6:39 pm

In I Kings 11:1-11, we see the wisest man ever, Solomon, and how he thought he would expand the influence for God by joining with other nations who served false gods. Solomon thought he would remain true to God and influence the other nations to serve the one true God. God says we are to be separate from them but to be a light. Solomon’s ways were not God’s ways. Solomon’s ways eventually led him into paganism and serving false gods. Even the plans devised by the wisest man ever to live are failures when compared to the ways of God.

No stone seen

Saturday, July 31st, 2004 at 6:33 pm

1 Kings 6:18 (KJV) And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

When building the house of God, God uses the saved as the stones. But when he saves us and adds us to his building, he doesn’t leave the rough, stony exterior.

Ezekiel 11:19 (KJV) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

We are robed in his righteousness. The stone was covered in cedar. Look at the properties of cedar: resistant to rot & decay, resistant to shrinking & warping, sweet-smelling. He makes us into a sweet-smelling savor.

Philippians 4:18 (KJV) But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

Church services are not the place where people should be saved

Saturday, July 31st, 2004 at 6:23 pm

1 Kings 6:7 (KJV) And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

Believers are the stones being used in building the house of God today.

1 Peter 2:5 (KJV) Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

These stones should be made ready away from the house of God. It is wonderful if a lost person shows up for services and is saved then, but we should be going out into the streets and winning people away from the house of God and then bring them in.

The church services are for the saved.

Ephesians 4:12 (KJV) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Using our own sword against us

Saturday, July 31st, 2004 at 6:16 pm

Ephesians 6:17 (KJV) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

The word of God is our sword. If you don’t learn to use your sword properly, the devil will use it against you. He used it against Eve (Yea, hath God said) and he tried to use it against the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 4:6). Are you skilled in the use of your sword or will Satan be able to use it on you?
