Getting to know someone better

Tuesday, June 29th, 2004 at 8:40 pm

Have you ever thought highly of someone you just met but then after you learned more about him or her, you didn’t hold him or her in high as regard? Not so with God. The more we know about God, the more we love him. Consider these passages:

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Psalm 119:165 (KJV) Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Notice that perfect peace is for those whose mind is stayed on the Lord – who are always thinking about and learning more about God. Great peace comes to those who love God’s law. Since peace is the result of both, the more we learn about God, the more we love his law and him.

Don’t give up

1 Samuel 12:23 (KJV) Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:

Do you have lost loved ones for which you have prayed for what seems like forever? Have you thought about giving up? Samuel said it was a sin against the Lord to stop praying for Israel. God wants us to pray for our lost loved ones. Don’t give up!
