Don’t know what to say?

Sunday, November 9th, 2003 at 3:29 pm

If you are in a situation and are not sure what to say, don’t say anything at all. More than likely, you, like Peter here, will say the wrong thing:

Mark 9:5-6 (KJV) And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

Why was that the wrong thing to say? See the Quick Thought titled “Statues of saints or Mary.”

Hard Times

Genesis 12:10 (KJV) And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.

Egypt is a type of the world. Where do you go when famine comes your way? Do you wait on God or do you turn to the world?

Genesis 26:1-3 (KJV) 1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. 2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

God says do not turn to Egypt – to the world – when famine comes. Trust God and he will bless you.

Psalm 33:18-19 (KJV) Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Psalm 37:18-19 (KJV) 18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Proverbs 10:3 (KJV) The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
