How long, America?

Saturday, November 29th, 2003 at 8:24 pm

Proverbs 29:1 (KJV) He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

How many more times will our country be reproved by God before we are finally destroyed?

Where There is No Vision : Proverbs 29:18

Saturday, November 29th, 2003 at 12:00 am

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Many people use this verse to encourage others to have plans – or a vision – for the future. While it is a good idea to plan for the future, this verse does not address this topic. The second part of the verse gives a clue to what the first part means. The second part refers to the word of God. In the first part, when it says “vision,” it is referring to God’s word. If God’s word is not given to people, they will perish. For it is by God’s word that man must live.

Man was here at the beginning of the world

Friday, November 28th, 2003 at 11:19 am

Luke 11:50-51 (KJV) That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

Man did not evolve millions or billions of years after the earth was created. The prophet Abel was slain at the foundation of the world.

Don’t rejoice about what you can do

Wednesday, November 26th, 2003 at 10:11 am

Luke 10:20 (KJV) Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

If you are saved, you have your name written in heaven. Many times, saved people rejoice when they overcome evil. Jesus said we should rejoice because we are saved and not because we can overcome evil. Why is this? If others see our rejoicing when we overcome evil, they may not know that we can overcome evil because we are saved. Others naturally will want to overcome evil too – but if they see us rejoicing that we are saved, they will learn how to overcome evil AND learn how to be saved as well.

Share the gospel with those that reject you

Wednesday, November 26th, 2003 at 10:03 am

Luke 10:10-11 (KJV) But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, 11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

Many times, we get our feelings (or more likely our pride) hurt when people reject us or don’t receive us. Even those people deserve to hear the gospel. Jesus commanded his disciples to share the gospel even with those who do not receive them. We should do the same.

Right mind

Monday, November 24th, 2003 at 9:29 am

Luke 8:35 (KJV) Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

If you are in your right mind, you will be found clothed and sitting at the feet of Jesus.

Has somebody done you wrong? Are you wanting to get back at him or her? Don’t do it:

Proverbs 24:29 (KJV) Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

I’m not being fed

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003 at 9:25 pm

Have people ever left your church because they said they weren’t getting anything from the messages?

Matthew 5:6 (KJV) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

If the word of God is being preached, you will be fed – no matter how the message is delivered.

You can’t buy your way to Heaven

Friday, November 21st, 2003 at 11:52 am

Psalm 49:6-9 (KJV) 6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: 8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) 9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
